[Untitled]The UNDO IT Script Contest
Quixotic Players Theater Company, Saint Mary’s College of California

The Quixotic Players Theater Company is proud to announce the 2013 UNDO IT Script Contest. The Quixotic Players seek original, theatrical scripts adapted from any Seminar text written by Saint Mary’s students!

The UNDO IT philosophy: When we say “Undo it,” we mean break the original text down and build it back up into your own interpretation of the text. Undoing it requires both your own ideas and creativity and a clear and close connection to the text. We seek scripts that modernize the classic texts, while still communicating the essential story and themes.

Check Out and "LIKE" Our Facebook Page @ UNDO IT! Facebook Page

Submission Deadline and Guidelines

Deadline
Monday, March 4, 2013. Email all scripts to Nicholas Leither at quixoticplayers@gmail.com. Your script must be in MICROSOFT WORD format and accompany the email as an attachment. When saving your script as a document, please avoid titles like: "Script." If your name is Jane Doe, your document should be saved like this:

Doe, Jane-(Title of Script)-14 February 2013

Length
Scripts should have a stage time of one hour. Your script should be roughly between twenty and forty pages. If in question about length, keep it short and sweet. We're seeking tight scripts.

Format
There are many correct ways to format a script. This does not mean that we will accept scripts that employ "freestyle" formatting that you invent in the middle of the night on Red Bull.

For questions about format: http://www.vcu.edu/arts/playwriting/format.html

Do not forget to number the pages. Include your name on the title page of your script only. Do not include your name in the header of each page. However, it will help us if you include the title of your script in the header.

Eligibility

Anyone enrolled at Saint Mary’s College of California at the time of submission (February 2009) is eligible to submit a script to this contest. Saint Mary’s Alumni are not eligible.

Script Contest - QuiXotic Players Theater Company"The man of good taste explained quite clearly how a play could arouse some interest, yet have no merit. He proved in a few words that it is not enough to bring in one or two of those situations which are found in novels and which always captivate an audience; but that a dramatist must be original without being eccentric, that he must be often sublime and always natural, that he must know the human heart and make it speak, be a great poet without letting any of his characters sound like a poet, have a perfect command of his language and write it with purity and continuous harmony, without ever sacrificing meaning to rhyme."
-Voltaire, Candide
